Room set-up examples
The configuration of meeting rooms has a direct bearing on a meeting's effectiveness. The ideal room set-up can better meet each session's objectives and enhance the attendees` learning experience.
The following are room set-up examples:
BANQUET
Generally used for meals and sessions involving small group discussions. Round and square tables seat comfortably from 4 up to 8 persons.
THEATRE
Appropriate for large sessions and short lectures that do not require extensive note taking. This is a convenient set up for press conferences and to use for roll-playing groups because chairs can be moved.
CLASSROOM
The most desirable set-up for medium to large-size meetings. Tables provide attendees with space for spreading out materials and taking notes.
U-SHAPE
Appropriate for groups with fewer than 40 persons. Maximum interaction is ensured with a leader seated at the head of the set-up. Audio-visual equipment is usually best placed at the open end of the seating.
CONFERENCE
Appropriate for interactive discussions and note taking sessions for fewer than 25 persons.
T-SHAPE, II-SHAPE
The mentioned seatings are most of all preferred at social events as e.g. weddings, gatherings. The greatest advantage of II - shape is its high capacity of persons.
